The WWE can not do anything right lately as NBCUniversal and USA Network are allegedly unhappy with WWE Smackdown on Fox having a stacked roster while WWE Raw is, well, raw.
It’s no secret the WWE has been offering lackluster storylines for a few years now and many fans have fallen out of love with the company and its product, and the WWE continued to catch flak for their recent releases.
So, having the networks pile on isn’t new as there have been reports that USA and Fox weren’t happy about the storylines and wanted something edgier and more engrossing.
This led to speculation that they don’t feel they’re getting their money’s worth, and it also appears the WWE could be ignoring them like they seem to ignore their fans.
Stacked card
Every network wants to be the top, so it’s no surprise that NBCUniversal, the parent company of the USA Network, would reportedly be upset over Smackdown on Fox getting Brock Lesnar and Becky Lynch.
It really stacks the card in Smackdown’s favor, and the show was already vastly superior to Raw in many ways.
Of course, things could change at the snap of Vince McMahon’s fingers, but he has a plan and the WWE will stick to it.
After all, the next draft is expected in October, though no official date has been set, and that’s probably where we can expect the scales to be balanced.
Given the last couple of drafts, we understand any reprehension either network may be feeling going into it.
But it’s not all roses on Fox’s side of things either.
Push for CM Punk
Dave Meltzer reported that there are some at Fox that aren’t happy with the WWE not making a big offer to CM Punk before he signed with AEW.
From what Meltzer said, it appears the WWE felt they needed to get Lynch and Lesnar back as soon as possible, and that things were pushed ahead for various reasons.
To be fair to the WWE, the chances of CM Punk coming back to work for Vince McMahon directly were probably between none and zilch.
While Punk always said he was open to a possibility, he was also just as quick to voice his unhappiness at what he went through and his lack of enthusiasm to experience that again.
You can’t win all the battles, but lately it looks like the WWE can’t win any.
Time will tell if they’re guessing right with their moves, but improving their storylines should be the top concern instead of bringing back big name, in our opinion.
