Since moving to the main roster, Riddle has quickly solidified his position through his in ring work and quirky promos, but he’s also made a name for himself by calling out and challenging established stars.
From wanting to be the one to retire Brock Lesnar to now, he’s given us an interesting ride, and with Roman Reign’s current gimmick working and engaging with fans, things took an interesting turn last week.
Reigns hasn’t been shy with his Tribal Chief persona on social media by claiming he’s the Thunderdome MVP, the reason people tune into Smackdown in droves, and has moved the needle while CM Punk never did like other greats fans perceive CM Punk as.
Fan backlash over his Punk comment aside, it’s important to note the near record lows in ratings through much of his run, which is why we believe this is his persona and not him as some fans on social media have suggested.
Reigns has done some awesome things and he’s finally carved out a niche that could put him in the talk with some of the best ever if there wasn’t that perceived stigma of being Vince McMahon’s golden boy.
Still, he’s been awesome as the Tribal Chief and is the best thing in WWE.
Riddle’s comments
Riddle gave an interview with the bleacherreport.com where he talked about his SummerSlam experience and Reigns’s comments.
“No disrespect to Roman, he seems like a swell fella, but at the same time, it’s like when people say they’re a good parent,” he said. “You know what? If you were a good parent, your kids would be telling you you’re a good parent. When he’s saying ‘Acknowledge me’ or ‘I move the needle,’ no, you don’t. You’re related to The Rock. Shut up. Like, I’m not impressed, I can beat you up in a real fight. So, shut your mouth.
“You’re not moving needles. I’m the real stallion, RK-Bro is moving the merch, we’re moving the needle, and that’s it. I don’t want to say too much, I’m not trying to get in trouble. Hey, hats off to him. He’s amazing at what he does. I do like what he does, but at the same time, it’s like, get off your high horse. You’re in that spot for a reason. You’re not a bro. You’re second generation. I’m first generation.”
We can never say Riddle isn’t direct and to the point, and we’re curious what this will mean for him going forward as this appears to be a real sentiment, but maybe it’s work, too.
The Queen asserts herself
Of course, it’s impossible to have this conversation without Charlotte Flair being added to the mix, and deservedly so.
As reported on sportskeeda.com, Flair pointed out that while Reigns has had an incredible year, she’s also on her own level.
“I’m pretty sure everyone was on their feet when I won for the 12th time. Roman has had an incredible year. There are levels to this, but I’m on a different level myself.”
She’s not wrong as Flair is the best female wrestler and one of the top handful in the company if not the best.
