Ring of Honor is back for another week of TV action. Just two matches tonight, but they promise quality over quantity. We have the first full length Pure Rules match from ‘The Mecca’ Brian Johnson, as he takes on his mentor PJ Black. Then in the main event, four faction leaders meet in Four Corners Survival.
Brian Johnson Passes The Last Test Of PJ Black
Brian Johnson would rant on his way to the ring about how he’s always been the best pure wrestler in the world – and now he will show it. PJ Black would mention that he taught Johnson a lot, but not everything he knows. They’d trade some holds on the mat early on, before forcing Johnson to use the first rope break of the match.
Black would be showing why he’s criminally underrated in the ring as he tied Johnson into a knot and forced a rope break – Johnson’s second. A big impact move would have ended it, but Johnson used his last rope break to survive. Desperate, he’d shove the ref, poke the eye of Black, hit a punch to the face and roll him up for the win. It was dirty – but Black respects him for learning.
Brody King Shows That He’s On Top
In tonight’s main event we’d see four factions represented by their active leaders. Kenny King of La Faccion Ingornable, Brody King of VLNC UNLTD, Shane Taylor of Shane Taylor Promotions, and Jay Lethal of The Foundation. These are all men who could be World Champion right now, but only one will stand tall.
Lethal would show why he’s the ace of ROH as he started the match and worked through Brody, Taylor and Kenny King before finally being sent out of the ring. Brody finally kicked him out of the ring, before smashing into Kenny King. Lethal had to save the match from ending, only to be taken out again. King would get Taylor with a Blue Thunder Bomb, but take a massive King Kong Lariat from Brody for the win.
This could very well lead to Brody King getting a one on one shot against Bandido – could he be our next ROH World Champion? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
