It has been a wild year in the career of ACH (formerly known as Jordan Myles of WWE NXT). He signed with WWE, won the NXT Breakout Tournment, beating Cameron Grimes (fka Trevor Lee) in the finals which took place in a sold out Scotiabank Arena as part of NXT Takeover Toronto II. He would go on to face NXT Champion Adam Cole for the esteemed title, in a losing effort. That was the last we will see of ACH in WWE.
Before NXT went to the USA Network, WWE went ahead and released T-Shirts for all the NXT talent, using simple designs mixed with the talents names. Jordan Myles was based on his bright smile, which was then placed on a black shirt. Myles approved the design for a grey shirt, but a mixup occured. Myles called the shirt racist, and that was the beginning of one of the biggest situations in recent months.
Last week, he announced in a heated Twitter video that he refuses to work with WWE going forward, and it looks as if he has been granted his release from the company, and is scheduled to appear for Heavy Metal Wrestling, where he will face Chandler Hopkins using his old ring name of ACH.
Non-Compete Clause Or Contract Termination?
This event he will be appearing at is not going to be televised, and we likely won’t see him on TV for a promotion in a while. Normally when WWE releases a talent and they had time left on their contract, you’re fine to work untelevised events, but wouldn’t be able to work for anyone else on TV, such as AEW, Impact Wrestling, or Ring Of Honor.
It’s unknown what went down behind closed doors between ACH & WWE, but it’s likely we won’t see him pop up in major promotions anytime soon. ACH is a man with more name value and hype thanks to his time with WWE, so he should find no problem finding work with smaller indy promotions. WWE might have also simply terminated his contract, and ACH is a free man. We will simply have to wait and see. He’s an insanely talented worker who will add value to any ticket sold, despite his recent out bursts.
What Will 2020 Hold For ACH?
ACH had burned a few bridges outside of WWE with his comments about former Ring of Honor champion, Jay Lethal. This might limit the major companies who will want to work with him. You can easily count out ROH, with Lethal still being there. If they could work out a deal however, that could result in a very interesting feud which would blur the lines between kayfabe and reality. ROH is in need of interesting angles and talent, so I wouldn’t count it out.
AEW (All Elite Wrestling) is another major destionation, but they have stated they won’t take everyone who leaves WWE, and ACH really wouldn’t have much to add to their already stacked roster.
Impact Wrestling is a company who is on the mend, they might not want to risk someone with contraversy joining their roster and potentially adding another black mark to their record.
ACH has previously worked in NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling) as a member of their juniors division. With them relying less on ROH as of late, they might give ACH a home as part of the divison he called home for a few tournaments. He teamed with Ryusuke TaguACHchi to great success, and fans would love to see him back.
Regardless of what ACH does next in his career, I wish him all the best. It’s obvious he was going through rough times, and I hope he is able to clear his head and get back on track with what he does best: wrestling.
