Israel Adesanya wasn’t surprised when news emerged of Jon Jones’ latest arrest. When the former light heavyweight champ was arrested for domestic battery following his UFC hall of fame induction, “The Last Stylebender” took to Twitter to share his thoughts.
““I’m sure y’all will give him ‘one more chance,’ lol. I swear I said he’s gonna f*ck up again, he can’t help it. Now here we are. I’ve made mistakes in my time, I learn from them. I don’t think this is the first time this has happened in his house. But yea… posi vibez goiz”
Adesanya on Jones Arrest: “I Swear I Said He Would F**k Up Again”
Adesanya also included a screenshot from another tweet, this one from fellow Kiwi Joey Crockett. The image featured lengthy text slamming Jon Jones and his conduct in recent years.
“Well what the f*ck were they doing when this sh*t was going down? What kind of people does he associate with? What kind of men would sit by and let a woman (and possibly children) be assaulted by a dog like Jon.
This whole thing makes me sick. But all the flags have been there for a long time. This scumbag crashed into a pregnant woman for Gods sake and only returned to the scene to get his money and cocaine.
This family has been let down. Jon Jones needs to spend considerable time in prison, he should never fight again and all his sponsors must pull out of their contracts.
My hat goes off to that guard who reached out. That’s what true courage and strength looks like. That’s the sort of person we should aspire to be.
Being a champ means nothing if you’re a scumbag like Jones. Protecting the vulnerable and being a good person is what we should all aspire to be. Let’s pray his partner also gains the courage to leave this piece of sh*t for good.”
When Jon Jones was light heavyweight champion, he and Adesanya constantly traded barbs, with a cross-division superfight seeming increasingly likely. That was before Jones announced he wanted to fight at 265 pounds, and Adesanya was overwhelmed in a light heavyweight bout against Jan Blachowicz.
With this most recent arrest spoiling Jones’ Hall of Fame induction, it’s unlikely that Israel Adesanya will ever fight Jon Jones, if Jones is allowed to compete in the UFC ever again.
