As I write this, NXT TakeOver: WarGames just went off the air. It was a wild, brutal, violent and truly insane night. Not to mention quite unpredictable. So it’s only appropriate that the main event continued that trend.
Stunningly, Kevin Owens joined Team Ciampa, allying with Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic to do battle with Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish – The Undisputed Era! No one saw that one coming, to say the very least!
It was a chaotic encounter, full of shattered tables among other things!
Stunningly, the bout ended with Ciampa hitting an Air Raid Crash off the top of the steel cage all the way through two tables, and thusly picking up the win over the NXT Champion to get the victory for Team Ciampa!
It’s a massive win to say the least. I think it’s fair to say that Ciampa will be challenging for the NXT title sooner rather than later, though we pretty much already knew that much. But I also think it’s likely that with the two enemies gaining more and more respect for one another, that Dominik Dijakovic and Keith Lee will end up combining forces to square off with Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly for the NXT Tag Team Championships!
Of course, before we can even really talk about down the road, Adam Cole still has to defend his NXT Championship tomorrow night against none other than Pete Dunne!
