Adam Cole is one of the most recent signings in AEW. With Tony Khan saying that Adam Cole was one of his biggest fears when going head to head with NXT. Making it a massive signing for Tony Khan for AEW. However, through a lot of the interview, Adam Cole has expressed that he knew early on that he wanted to sing with AEW. In a new interview with AEW Unrestricted Podcast, Adam Cole went into detail about how secret his debut for AEW was and how surprised he was at the time.
What Adam Cole said about his debut
“As far as the actual debut, it was crazy. It was the most secretive I’ve ever had to be. I flew into Milwaukee the night before, and then spent the night in a hotel, and then got picked up, and we drove two hours or whatever to the venue while the show was going on.
So we’re there, and I remember sitting there in the trailer, and the main event had finished, and I’m still in the trailer. So then I start to panic a little bit. I’m like, ‘Did someone forget to come get me? Like where am I supposed to go? I don’t know what the entrance looks like or the stairs, like what’s gonna happen?’. So then we finally got grabbed and I – like you said – I’m passing everyone and saying hello, and everyone’s like, ‘Oh crap, here we go’. So it was such a surreal time.”

There is no doubt that Adam Cole is a great full rounded performer. However, this interview does show that in massive companies, Adam Cole is kind of green. Only being in NXT for years and not hitting the main roster. This shows that he has never been at the top of the food chain, even though he is obviously a main eventer. As massive returns like this are usually kept pretty secret. It’s great to see Adam Cole is one of the biggest companies in wrestling, and hope to see him in bigger matches down the line.
