In what will likely not be topped as Match Of The Night, atleast in terms of pure action but with a pretty damn hot crowd as well, Adam Cole successfully defended the NXT Championship against Pete Dunne at WWE Survivor Series 2019.
It was an impeccable match, filled with creative reversals. Each of them came in banged up from their rough nights at TakeOver WarGames, Cole with taped up ribs and Dunne with a taped up knee. They each sold their injuries pretty well yet fought through for a gritty battle.
Adam Cole Retains NXT Championship Over Pete Dunne At WWE Survivor Series 2019
There was honestly very little doubt to me that Adam Cole would retain his NXT Championship, great as Dunne is. Just wouldn’t make sense to do with no real build. But damned if the match wasn’t doing a fine job at convincing me otherwise, if only for a split second. That’s a hallmark of greatness in my estimation.
It’s been a banner weekend for NXT to hang it’s hat on thus far. WarGames made for another off-the-charts TakeOver, they’ve been booked strong in the competition at WWE Survivor Series thus far, and to cap it off, a fantastic NXT Title match, the first of it’s kind on WWE PPV.
What a month Adam Cole has had too, starting with his battle with Daniel Bryan up ’til now. November has been incredible for the NXT Champ, no doubt.
