MSK have been unstoppable since coming to NXT, and their reign as NXT Tag Team Champions have seen them take down all comers. However tonight, we will have to see if they can stop the challenge of Imperium once again, as they enter the ring to once again try to find some respect on their name.
Lumber-Jack O’Lantern Match Time For MSK & Imperium!
Imperium would stand tall and proud. Earlier in the night they cut intimidating promos in their native tongue, saying WALTER isn’t here but they intend to do him proud. The fan of the night would get to spin the wheel to make the deal – and it was time for a Lumber-Jack O’Lantern match. NXT’s roster all in costume would hit ringside, including KUSHIDA & Jiro Ikeman dressed like Diamond Mine.
Nash Carter & Fabian Aichner started this one off, and Carter got thrown across the ring. Carter would jump into a big body slam, and there was some snap on both that and the following elbow drop. Bartel would lose control to MSK, with Lee hitting a senton over the top rope. Lee took some heavy blows in return, including a PK which rolled Lee into the ropes.
Bartel was sent to the outside, and the Lumberjacks had to fight them before MSK hit a dive through the ropes as we went to a commercial break. Back from the break, Aichner was throwing Carter into the ropes. Carter tried to bounce back and took a big knee strike, but was able to tag in Wes Lee. Lee was on fire with a handspring into a backflip kick, getting a two count.
Restoring Order To NXT’s Tag Team Division
MSK would go two on one with Aichner, before he slammed them both down with Rolling Fireman’s Carry. Just an insane feat of Strength, but The Imperial Bomb was countered. Lee dove onto Aichner over the ropes, taking out a bunch of Lumberjacks, before Carter brought the pile down with a Cutter to Bartel.
The lumberjacks took Legado Del Fantasma to the back as they tried to invade the match, and now we just had the four men in this match. MSK would get taken out with big lariats, but could counter the Imperial Bomb again. Carter came off the top rope with a Destroyer to Bartel, before Hot Hot Heat for a two count.
Imperium would nail a Spinebuster into a PK on Carter, before a big brainbuster and finally the Imperial Bomb to win the match! MSK have fallen! WALTER is smiling somewhere after this one.
One of the best matches of MSK’s run in NXT, truly getting the CWC Crowd on their side. Imperium are long overdue for a proper reign as champions, and this was a great way to crown them with a bang. They outworked the unbeatable champions, in an incredible effort. Match Rating: 4.25/5 (**** 1/4)
