Is Brock Lesnar On His Way To Being Mr. Survivor Series?

In recent years, Brock Lesnar has built up a streak of insanely entertaining matches at WWE’s second longest running PPV, Survivor Series. He’s had two match of the year contenders, a chaotic sprint, and has been destroyed in record time, but every single time has been one of the highlights of the card. It’s become something to look forward too each year, because while Brock is inconsistent at the best of times, he always brings something to this show.

    Goldberg Strikes

In 2016, Brock Lesnar was set to face an old rival in Goldberg. They previously clashed at Wrestlemania 20, with Goldberg winning. Lesnar had all intentions to get his win back, but Goldberg in his WWE return turned back the clock, and defeated The Beast Incarnate in 1 minute and 25 seconds. Spear, Jackhammer, Whos Next. It was an absolutely shocking event which left fans speechless, as we have never seen Lesnar dominated in this way. Lesnar would finally beat Goldberg at Wrestlemania 33.

The Beast Incarnate vs. The Phenomenal One

In 2017, Universal Champion Brock Lesnar faced WWE Champion AJ Styles in what was one of the best matches we saw in that year. People expected Brock to simply destroy AJ Styles, but instead we got an absolute classic, the best Brock Lesnar match since he faced CM Punk at Summerslam 2013, with him going all out and matching AJ Styles pace. It felt like the Brock Lesnar of old, and not the ‘Suplex City’ phone in performances we came to expect from Brock Lesnar. It is an absolute treat to see, and one to watch for yourself. Lesnar would reign victorious, but AJ looked incredible in the aftermath.

The Beast Incarnate vs. The Planets Champion

In 2018, it seemed like we were going to get a rematch between AJ Styles & Brock Lesnar, until Daniel Bryan shocked everyone when he turned heel and defeated AJ Styles to become WWE Champion once again, which gave us another absolutely fantastic matchup. It began with Brock throwing Daniel around like he was a small child, but Daniel with a swift kick to the nuts would take the fight to Lesnar, kick his head in, and nearly defeat the beast, only to be snuffed out by an F-5. Like 2017, Daniel came out looking stronger than he went in, even in defeat

The Beast Incarnate Vs. The Master Of The 619

This year, Brock Lesnar defended the WWE Championship against Rey Mysterio, in what became a vicious feud involving Brock brutalizing Rey Mysterio’s son, Dominic. This lead to Rey bringing in Cain Valesquez to strike back, but he was defeated at Crown Jewel. Rey took matters into his own hands, attacking Lesnar with a steel chair & pipe in the build, turning the match into a No DQ match-up, which saw father & son team up to try to defeat the beast. It wasn’t a classic like we saw with Daniel or AJ, but it was an entertaining chaotic sprint of a matchup, which stuck out on a card full of long drawn-out matches.

Who knows what 2020’s edition of Survivor Series will hold, but I hope it will have another memorable match or moment for Brock Lesnar. He shows how good he can be yearly at this event, and I hope that stays true going forward.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
