While Keith Lee & Dominik Dijakovic have been steady rivals in WWE NXT, they recently became allies as part of War Games, where alongside Tomassao Ciampa & Kevin Owens, they defeated Undisputed Era. Their alliance continues, as they have earned a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships. Will they be the ones to finally end The Undisputed Eras stranglehold on NXT Gold? The match was made official by NXT GM William Regal on Twitter.
A Young Reign
Undisputed Eras current reign is still fairly young, having won the belts from The Street Profits back in August, and only having one televised defense of the titles, that being against The Street Profits in their rematch in October. They were tied up in the War Games feud, so this will be the first real test for their third reign with the titles. They will obviously have the tag team experience edge over their opponents, but that just means Lee & Dijakovic will be hard to scout. Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish haven’t had the best time recently either, losing at War Games and in the preshow of Survivor Series.
Unlikely Allies Through Mutual Respect
Keith Lee & Dominik Dijakovic have had a few epic clashes in NXT where they truly beat the respect into each other, but this is not their first time as a tag team. They teamed up once in Pro Wrestling Guerilla to face off with the team of Matt Riddle & Jeff Cobb during PWG’s annual Battle Of Los Angles tournament in 2017, which is one of my favorite matches in company history. They tore the house down and their combined strength and agility made them as a formidable duo. Many saw them teaming up in NXT eventually, as much like Sheamus & Cesaro and Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch, they earn their new partners respect through battle, which creates incredibly strong bonds.
Can They Get The Job Done?
Many fans are skeptical that The Undisputed Eras prophecy will end on an episode of NXT, and many see them continuing to hold all the belts until the next Takeover event in February. The numbers advantage and devious tactics on top of Fish & O’Reilly being tag team experts make them near impossible to defeat, especially with their recent confidence. They are the stars of the brand, and I feel like Keith Lee is destined to unseat another champion on NXT in the near future, that being NXT Champion Adam Cole.
Regardless of the result, this should be an insanely fun tag team encounter which will make NXT must see again this week, especially combined with the fallout of NXT Takeover War Games settling.
