We’re just drudging along with tonight’s preview of WWE SmackDown. And even less than an hour before the show starts, they are giving us very little to go on, even when they do announce things! And I feel I’d be lucky for them to announce anything else, but hey. I’m just glad they’re saying anything at all at this point. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and I don’t mean to drag you down with whining. After all the name of the game is analysis! So let’s get into this tidbit.
Roman Reigns will be opening WWE SmackDown here tonight.
Hilariously, as I type this, the WWE.com preview blurb for this does not appear to exist! If you try to click it, you’re led to a page that still only has the Firefly Funhouse preview written! Essentially WWE’s twitter account is linking to nothing in the tweet that announces this.
But there’s atleast enough subtext to understand that he’s coming out to celebrate his team’s victory at WWE Survivor Series this past weekend. SmackDown as a whole lost, but they did out-do Raw and arguably won the most significant match in terms of pure brand supremacy. So one would think Roman would be fairly happy with how things shook out.
Coming off the heels of this, you’ve gotta think Roman’s feud with King Corbin is continuing. The two of them are set to wrestle each other at WWE Starrcade a couple of nights from now, but at the moment that match is not set to air. Nonetheless, we would expect to see the two of them continuing to duke it out for the foreseeable future, leading into a match at TLC next month.
That being the case, Corbin is very likely to interrupt Roman’s celebration here and inevitably set up some kind of match for the main event.
