When it comes to the latest batch of releases, which included names like John Morrison, Tegan Nox and Drake Maverick. Least shocking in the bunch was Hit Row – as one key member in B-Fab was released earlier in the month, and Top Dolla tanked their chances of success with a bad attitude on twitter. However, the ace of the faction would land on his feet just fan.
Isaiah “Sweve” Scott has been a notable name since his days as Shane Strickland on the indies or Killshot in Lucha Underground. This smooth and hard hitting style made him a joy to watch in NXT, and sadly fans of Smackdown didn’t get much of a chance to see him shine. However, one major name in AEW knows exactly what he is capable of, and that’s Adam Cole.
Adam Cole Always Saw Potential In Swerve
I will note that this interview snippet is a bit on the older side, coming from 5 months ago on After The Bell with Corey Graves. Still in WWE at the time, Cole would buddy up with the lead Monday Night RAW commentator, and spent a while talking about just how good Swerve is.
“So I’ve mentioned this name before, but Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott is someone I’ve always had my eyes on. With this new group he has, I feel like he is really hitting his stride. To me, there’s always been something about him that has stuck with me. It could be because I am from Lancaster Pennsylvania, and I met Isaiah Scott in Lancaster. I directed him towards the training academy that I was going to.
I kind of watched him grow as a talent through the independents all across the world. To see him land in NXT has been really cool. I knew kind of from the beginning that he was going to be really good, now again to see him in the position he is in is really cool. He’s the guy that I am 1000% keeping my eyes on. A year from now you will really see what he is capable of.”
Could Isaiah “Swerve” Scott Be On His Way To AEW?
With the benefit of hindsight, we know things didn’t work out for either in WWE – but the last line is the important one. “A year from now you will really see what he is capable of.” Neither could have predicted how their years would go, but that line stands out. Right now, Cole is in a major role in AEW – holding down the fort of The Elite alongside The Young Bucks while Kenny Omega takes time off to heal up some major injuries. This is also coming alongside him adding men like Bobby Fish to the group, shaping it in his own image and building influence.
There is little doubt that Swerve will be a target of Tony Khan, who always likes to pick and choose the names AEW goes after from WWE releases. He’s young, talented, markettable, and has charisma for days. Very soon, Cole & Swerve could be on the same roster again, and that right there is a big time singles match that fans would tune into see. Swerve like many others has the hustle needed to find work post-WWE.
He will land on his feet and be fine – but do you see AEW in his future? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
