Right now is a weird time to be a WWE fan. The company is riding record high profits, while tickets and TV ratings continue to drop. Coming up should be one of their biggest shows of the year. It’s Survivor Series, a PPV with a longer life than most of the modern fans of WWE – but hype is simply not where it should be. This is best shown with the ticket sales for the following night on Monday Night RAW – which are not looking good.
Survivor Series Looks Fine, Monday Night RAW Does Not
Both Monday Night RAW & Survivor Series will be held in Barclays Center in New York. This has become a common venue for them, notably holding the NXT Takeover Brooklyn events. Right now, Survivor Series ticket sales are looking good. Stats from WrestleTix on Twitter show that 94% of tickets are sold, which puts about 11k fans in the arena.
Sadly, the following night on Monday Night RAW? Things are not looking hot. Even with them reducing the amount of seats available from Survivor Series, WWE has only sold around 57% of tickets. This puts the show at around 4k fans, and there is not much time for tickets to still sell.
A Chance To Turn Things Around With An Incredible PPV – If WWE Can Manage That
This tells the same story that any fan will tell you – RAW is a hard sell. WWE tends to drop the ball on occasion with their PPV events, but do it every week on RAW. It’s hard to watch from a couch, let alone in person. Fans simply don’t want to watch the weekly TV anymore – sitting through 3 hours of mediocre wrestling doesn’t sound like the best option anymore. There are more options, and fans will choose those over WWE.
WWE has a chance to turn ticket sales around for the RAW following Survivor Series by running a great show. The build doesn’t suggest this, but with rumors of The Rock showing up and the promise in a main event between Big E & Roman Reigns? It’s not impossible.
Do you think they can sell more tickets for the follow up to Survivor Series, or have they shot themselves in the foot with a bad build? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
