It looks as though actress and cooking show host/judge Valerie Bertinelli has split from husband Tom Vitale after over ten years.
Valerie Bertinelli Single After Filing Separation Tom Vitale
According to The Blast, Bertinelli filed for separation in November. Right now, there are details on why the split has occurred. Prior to the split, the two married on New Year’s 2011 after they were introduced to each other by her brother in 2004.
During their AARP interview, Vitale said that in meeting Valerie Bertinelli “It wasn’t love at first; it was family at first sight.” Previously, the Food Network star had been married to rock icon and guitar god Eddie Van Halen from 1981 until 2007.
Together, the two had a son—Wolfgang Van Halen—who would later play bass alongside his father and uncle and Van Halen drummer Alex. Bertinelli was on friendly terms with Eddie Van Halen after their divorce and up until his death in 2020 at 65.
In that very same AARP interview, Bertinelli said that wasn’t expecting to get married again as relationships are difficult to maintain. She actually figured she’d just put on weight and become a cat lady. However, Tom Vitale changed that expected path.
Currently, the Emmy Award-winning host is juggling multiple shows on the Food Network as the star Valerie’s Home Cooking and as a co-host and judge for Kids Baking Championship. She took on both roles in 2015 and made her debut with the network as a judge on Iron Chef America in 2013.
Her career in television began in 1974 but kicked off in 1975 co-starring on the sitcom One Day at a Time as Barbera Cooper. She would win her first Golden Globe—Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or TV Film—in 1981 and picked up a second the following year.
Bertinelli is slated to co-star in the pilot for Demi Lovato’s NBC sitcom Hungry, which is expected to air next year.
