Lately, we have seen a lot of talent leave WWE. Some were released, while others had their contracts run out. This was almost the case of Kevin Owens as well. Infact, it was being discussed as more of a fact than a rumor, that he would jump ship to AEW in 2022.
His WWE contract was coming to an end in January 2022, and it seemed like he’d go to AEW and join his friends Adam Cole & The Young Bucks. Together, they form the faction known to fans of Pro Wrestling Guerilla as ‘Mount Rushmore’. However, rumors are sometimes just that – and now Kevin Owens has signed a new contract with WWE.
Kevin Owens Has Signed A New Multi-Year Deal With WWE
This news came first from Fightful, who would confirm through their sources in WWE that Owens has signed a new multi-year contract with WWE. These are generally for about three years, which likely puts Owens with WWE until 2024. However, with all their recent budget cuts could make these deals two years now.
Further info would come with the news that there is no “No Cut” clause in his contract, which means Owens still could be released from the company. If this happens, it’d be hard to not see AEW signing Owens, due to a combination of his skills in the ring and him having a ton of friends there.
Sami Zayn Is In A Similar Boat – Could Find His Way To AEW In 2022 </h3?
Someone in a similar boat is Sami Zayn, who’s deal is set to end around the end of January 2022. There is currently no word on his contract, or if WWE has even offered him a new deal at this time. Zayn was last featured as a challenger for Roman Reigns, but was beaten down by Brock Lesnar first. Much like Owens, it was expected that Zayn will not sign a new deal with WWE, but now we know once again that nothing is set in stone when it comes to rumors and professional wrestling.
