The rumors of the WWE selling within the next year or two have taken a new swerve thanks to the master of the swerve, Vince Russo.
There have been plenty of speculation going back and forth that say NBC is interested in the WWE, but also Disney will buy it in 2022.
Nick Kahn hasn’t made it any easier for longtime fans to feel secure as he’s been the main driving force behind the releases to streamline the WWE and improve it’s bottom line, with Vince McMahon’s blessing of course.
This new twist isn’t a surprise when we think about it, and it could have interesting ramifications.
The Rock could own WWE
Russo talked with Dr. Chris Featherstone on the latest episode of Legion of Raw (the video above), and he explained how he thinks Nick Kahn and the Rock will buy the WWE.
Or at the very least, Kahn could do so with the Rock’s backing and support.
Russo said: “What about the Khan-Rock tie we just learned about? Now that’s who buys WWE, bro. Right there, oh my God, bro, yes. I think Khan’s part of The Rock’s buying group. I’m telling you, bro, when I saw that, I was like holy crap, bro. Where did this come out of? They have known each other since childhood; Khan’s on the inside, he knows all the finances. Bro, if The Rock bought the XFL, what’s next? Bro, I would like to see The Rock buy that company.”
This is a curious idea considering the talent Kahn’s had a hand in releasing and has fans being hesitant on who they grow attached to.
Of course, the company has adopted the notion that we watch because it’s the WWE and not for individual wrestlers, so it does fall in line with that thought process.
But there’s another side to this that could prove interesting.
The Rock’s in charge
If this happens and Kahn owns the company, it’s reasonable to envision the Rock being the president and running the day to day operations with Kahn overseeing things.
If this happens, then Triple H and Shawn Michaels would be under him.
Not only would he take the company away from the man many expected to take over for McMahon, but he’d be the boss of the two that tried to ruin his career before it got started.
Had Bret Hart and Ken Shamrock not stood by the Rock then, he may not have become one of the greatest talents ever.
We don’t think he’d be vain or anything like that, but it would definitely be an interesting dynamic.
