To kick off 2022, WWE have put together a massive show in WWE Day One. While the Fatal Four Way for the WWE Championship and the next installment of Lesnar vs. Reigns has most of the attention, fans would be fools to sleep on the rematch of Becky Lynch & Liv Morgan.
Following a messy finish to their match on Monday Night RAW, which saw Lynch grab a roll up with the ropes firmly grasped for extra leverage, Morgan would be granted a second chance. With this being her first singles championship match on PPV, she’s taking it seriously – and brought an unexpected fight to Big Time Becks.
Liv Morgan Tries To Get The Jump On Becky Lynch
In a WWE digital exclusive, we would see Lynch getting some extra training in at the Black & Brave wrestling school. This is an actual school run by her husband Seth Rollins, which has trained the likes of NXT UK’s Nathan Frazier. When Liv would arrive, Lynch was seemingly in the in the ring, practicing some basic holds.
She’d slip into the ring while a redhead applied a sleeper hold to a trainee, and swung for the fences with a kendo stick. It wasn’t Lynch she caught, just someone with similar hair. Lynch would appear behind Liv and take the kendo stick, getting some whacks in before Liv regained control of the wild brawl and ran Lynch off. Lynch called for the trainees to get her opponent , but Liv left on her own accord.
A Great Touch That Really Makes This Feud Feel Real
Touches like this can add a lot to a feud, even in an era where kayfabe is a thing of the past. Abusing someone during training is a smart play during what has become a heated feud, and actually gives the babyface Liv Morgan a bit of edge. This is a move you’d more expect from a heel character, making it that extra level of refreshing to see.
The last time we’ve seen something like this was during the feud of Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly in NXT, as Cole rushed O’Reilly who was in the middle of a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training regime. Both Cole & O’Reilly have since left WWE, with O’Reilly expected to debut on AEW Dynamite this Wednesday.
