Given the current status of the WWE with releases ranging far and wide than have helped galvanize the Indie scene the talent was taken from, it’s no surprise that news about Vince McMahon being adamant about having No Cut clauses in new WWE contracts.
To be honest, given the announcement that NXT will have a talent turnover every six months makes sense in their case, but we think it’s more addressed to main roster stars.
Having a no cut clause in a contract is a great peace of mind for the talent as they know they’ll have a job for x number of years, but it also means that a promoter won’t know if they’re getting the best effort.
In short, it’s an old school way of ensuring the talent gives their all every time to keep from being cut.
But since their recent releases have been budget based, it basically will leave everyone unsure of their future and whether or not risking injury by going all in is the right thing for them and their families.

Art imitates life
What’s really funny about this is the timing. On this week’s Raw, Vince addressed Austin Theory after his loss to Finn Balor.
“You lost the match. But I don’t know what to do about it, but maybe I know. Maybe I should fire you. I enjoy firing people. It gives me a warm feeling in my stomach, like I just had a really good meal. Look, I’m going to give you another chance; I will give you a rematch next week against Finn Balor.”
While this was said in the heel character of his Mr. McMahon persona, it’s timing couldn’t be stranger when Fightful Select reported afterwards that Vince is doesn’t want No Cut clauses.
Special thanks to @the_wrestling_news2 for the transcript from Fightful’s report.
“We’re told that the subject of no-cut clauses was broached and that several people of influence within the company were open to that, but eventually talent was told it isn’t negotiable or something WWE was willing to utilize in their deals at this point”.
Being the boss isn’t easy
Everyone, including us, have no problem in pointing out a problem when we see it and the blame often falls at the feet of Vince McMahon since he is the boss and is a micromanager.
It’s not easy to do his job, because if it was there would be hundreds of huge wrestling promotions out there vying for the top spot instead of two.
At the end of the day, the WWE loves to tie in real world issues with their storylines, and Mr. McMahon is one of those characters that takes Vince’s business mindset to the extreme.
It may be a hard job, but he is one of the best at it.
