As if there wasn’t enough bad news and rumors swirling about the WWE, former ref Mike Chioda shared his thoughts on the McMahon family behind the scenes and it’s more interesting than what we see in the ring.
On an episode of Monday Mailbag with Mike Chioda, Chioda talked about why he believes Shane McMahon has been away from the company once again.
With Triple H sidelined following his heart operation, it’d make sense to have Shane there helping with things and Chioda said he thinks it’s because of problems within the family.
Non-dating policy
According to Chioda, the WWE had a non-dating policy between talent and family members, which Shane was a firm believer in. By keeping the two separate, there wouldn’t be a conflict of interest, and that policy is allegedly the reason for a years long issue between Shane and Triple H.
Special thanks to thesportster.com for the following quote.
Chioda said: “I think Shane really had a big part of that and that’s why Shane and Triple H had a falling out for many years, and that’s why Shane was exiled for 10 years. Shane is still not on top of the list. Where is he at now? Is he in the office? Is he running things? Is he Vice President? Is he Vice CEO? Can somebody tell me where he’s at right now because he should be there.”
He went deeper and shared his belief that the company would be running so much better is Shane was a part of it instead of Road Dogg, Johnny Laurinaitis, and others, and it was hard to see the once close McMahon family be pulled apart like they have been.
Verifying what fans believed
It’s curious hearing this as it vindicates what many fans were saying once Triple H and Stephanie were married. Many of us noticed a shift that felt wrong but it’s hard to point to exactly what was off about it.
Oddly enough, it’s a fairy tale ending to a quest for power Bret Hart mentioned a little in his book, Hitman. In his book, Bret talked about how he was approached to be the head of a group to wrest away control and protect each other while holding threats at bay.
According to Bret, it was the Kliq before they became a force, and even Taz hinted that backstage politics involving them is why he was never WWE Champion.
It could be argued that Triple H partly followed in Vince’s footsteps from when Vince took control of the company from his father.
Chioda’s thoughts definitely play into the conspiracy theories fans have had for years, and Bret and Taz’s accounts have helped fuel directly or indirectly.
What do you think? Did Triple H and Stephanie violating the non-dating policy shift the WWE for the worse and fracture the McMahon family?
