We are just a few weeks out from the 2022 Royal Rumble. WWE has managed to build up a great card, including a dream match between Brock Lesnar & Bobby Lashley. However, the main draw will always be the titular match – the Royal Rumble. Since 2018, we’ve gotten two of these matches per year – one for the men, and another for the women. WWE needs all hands on deck for the women’s match, having called in legends from many eras of the company’s history. Now, another name could be joining the mix – as Asuka is ready to return.
Asuka Is Cleared To Return To The Ring For WWE
When it comes to Royal Rumble winners, only a few ladies hold that honor – but Asuka was the first to get the win. This came back in 2018, when she last eliminated Nikki Bella – before falling to Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania. However, she has a chance to make more history in 2022 as she has a strong chance of being the first woman to ever win two Royal Rumble matches.
Asuka is currently set to return to WWE following an injury suffered back in 2021. She was seen with her arm in a sling, but the nature of the arm injury was not disclosed. However, the road to recovery is done and it’s been reported that Asuka has been cleared to return to the ring. It’s not clear if she will return on RAW or Smackdown ahead of the Royal Rumble, or during the match itself.
Not Many Possible Surprises Left For The Women’s Royal Rumble
Given how few surprises are left for that match with the likes of The Bella Twins & Lita being announced ahead of time – the return of Asuka would give fans something to be excited about. Asuka remains one of the best wrestlers in the world regardless of gender, and her presence has been sorely missed on WWE TV.
There is hope that Bayley will return for the Rumble as well, but reports from WWE have been unclear on when Bayley will be back in the ring. Sasha Banks is not expected, as she will be out of action for another four weeks.
