There has been a lot of chatter in WWE right now about the breaking of records. This mainly follows Natalya Neidhart, who has been scooping up world records – but she’s not the only one who is breaking records. Right now, The Usos are the Smackdown Tag Team Champions – and have just broken a record held by themselves.
The Usos Break Their Own Record For Longest Reign As Smackdown Tag Team Champions
This record comes with their 188+ days as WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions. After defeating the team of Dominik Mysterio & Rey Mysterio at the kickoff show for Money in the Bank 2021 to win the titles, no one has been able to stop their reign. Even The New Day were unable to stop them at WWE Day One – or in a Street Fight on Smackdown Live. This has led to them breaking a record that they set back in 2018, when they had the same titles for 182 days. That set the longest reign in the titles history, and now that record will increase by the day.
This comes alongside their cousin Roman Reigns setting similar records with his 510+ days as WWE Universal Champion, who recently broke the record of 504 day reign of Brock Lesnar. The Bloodline have ruled Smackdown Live for well over a year now, and this has really left few to properly challenge them. Roman Reign has to face his old ally of Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble – who is a superstar of the Monday Night RAW brand, with Reigns having beaten all challengers on Smackdown Live. A similar move might soon need to be made for The Usos, unless a tag team like Ricochet & Cesaro are able to step up and becoming worthy challengers in the near future.
This is just another ripple of The Usos being one of the best tag teams of their generation. Since their WWE debut back in the early 2010’s, they’ve shown great skill – and while Jey Uso showed some singles success in 2020, WWE will never break them up unless it’s 100% needed.
