AEW Dark is just about wrapped up now. The main event of the evening features the Best Friends, Chuck Taylor and Trent facing off with two of the more impressive of the guest wrestlers of the past few months, the Captain Shawn Dean and Alan Angels. There’s a slight bit of smoke for the Best Friends’ entrance and that’s apparently enough for a sensory overload for Orange Cassidy.
The Best Friends vs. Alan Angels & Shawn Dean
Chuck Taylor starts with Shawn Dean. Hammerlock, Dean elbows his way out of it. Hits the ropes, shoulder block and salute. He hits the ropes, Taylor leap frogs, dropkick! Tag to Trent, double whip into a double back elbow into a double elbow drop! Tag to Alan Angels, Trent with a waistlock takedown, spin drill and smacks him across the head. Angels pops and slaps him across the face, low kick, Trent ducks a high roundhouse and paint brushes him! Hits the ropes, Angels with a step-up enziguri – Trent bounces back with a big lariato! Rope-hung Northern Lights Suplex for a nearfall!
Dean tags in, isolating Trent a little bit. Trent fires back with a knife edge chop but Dean wins out with a forearm, charging high knee to the chest! Enziguri! Angels tags in, assisted Cannonball! Nearfall! Drags him to his corner, Dean tags in and knees Trent in the gut. Corner charge, Trent avoids it and hits a Springing Tornado DDT! Angels goes up top, flies but Trent catches him out of the air with a hard Back Suplex! Chuck tags in, clotheslines Dean over the top rope, hits a Powerslam on Angels! Angels avoids him in the corner but eats a rising knee, Chuck with a pescado onto Dean! Chuck whips Dean into a big spear from Trent!
Back in the ring, Angels tries to stop Chuck with a springing headscissor but Chuck counters with a big powerbomb! They give the big hug in the center of the ring! Strong Zero nailed and that is the match.
Winners: The Best Friends
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Chuck Taylor and Trent get another victory and do not in fact get upset by a couple of enhancement guys before their tag team title shot. Afterwards, Cassidy enters the ring and repeatedly raises the referee’s hand as if claiming him the victor.
