An article written like this could be done for near to every wrestler in the world. Orange Cassidy though is a completely different kind of juice. This is due to there being no one like him out there really. It is hard to guess if another wrestler would do well in another company but we can look at the company’s track record to predict how well a wrestler could do there instead of their current place.
Would the gimmick work?
The lazy sloth style gimmick is amazing but it needs a lot of freedom to be successful as it’s something truly different in wrestling. Looking at a lot of creative original gimmicks in wrestling, they don’t seem to work in WWE. A great example of this would be Matt Hardy as he became a legend through his Broken Universe that got buried in WWE.
Orange Cassidy’s gimmick is maybe completely different. It seems like it would get the same treatment. In AEW, it can be explosive from lazy to unbelievable speed. In WWE, it feels like it would take out the explosiveness and just have the lazy stuff. It most likely wouldn’t get the great push it’s getting in AEW.
Maybe in NXT but Smackdown and Raw maybe not unless…
It might sound harsh but a lot of wrestlers’ creativity seems to be crushed in Raw and Smackdown. There is one place though in WWE it may be successful and that is NXT. Even though it’s hard to know if it would work. NXT is much more focused on the actual matches with less promos. This would be a massive benefit to Orange Cassidy’s style.
It does seem like the gimmick could easily work in NXT but in Raw and Smackdown it’s very unlikely. This would be due to the completely different styles that all three brands have, although Raw and Smackdown are pretty similar.
