When it comes to the shows of WWE, there are two that are clearly at the bottom of the barrel. Both 205 Live and Main Event are barely promoted by WWE, but somehow keep coming week after week. They provide some interesting moments and matchups however, including this week which sees top NXT women’s talent Dakota Kai in action on Main Event, and two proper heavyweight clash in the main event of the Cruiserweight centric show.
Dakota Kai Loses To Recently Called Up Aliyah
WWE Main Event was taped earlier this week ahead of Monday Night RAW in Amway Center from Orlando, Florida. Alongside some recaps of recent action on RAW & Smackdown, we’d see two original matches like always. Both included talent from the NXT brand, giving us a look at possible future call ups.
First up, the recently called up Aliyah took on Dakota Kai. NXT viewers know that Dakota Kai is set for a title match at NXT Takeover 36, where she will take on the unstoppable Raquel Gonzalez. However, she would lose to Aliyah in just over 5 minutes, which was Aliyah’s first televised singles win in over a year.
The second match saw Austin Theory take on NXT Breakout Tournament standout Odyssey Jones, in a losing effort. Theory has all but left NXT, and is expected to be called up in the coming draft. Jones is also seemingly set for a short stay in NXT, with him being commonly featured in dark matches over the last month.
Heavyweights Make Sure The Cruiserweights Can Cruiser-Wait To Get Back In Main Event
Meanwhile, 205 Live was taped ahead of WWE NXT this past Wednesday in the Capitol Wrestling Center. Given all the recent releases, it’s not shocking to learn that there wasn’t enough Cruiserweight talent available to fill up a two match card. The first match taped was Grayson Waller taking on Ikeman Jiro, with Waller getting a big win. With these two being some of the few Cruiserweights kept on the roster, you have to imagine WWE see’s something in them.
The second taped match saw two proper heavyweights clash. Joe Gacy & Josh Briggs were in the NXT Breakout Tournament, both being knocked out in the first round. Carmello Hayes beat Briggs, while Trey Baxter took out Gacy. However in this match they would meet each other, with Briggs coming out on top. It’d be hard to not see Briggs becoming a star in WWE, due to his size alone, so this win bodes well for him.
Do you think Josh Briggs will find a steady role in WWE NXT? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
