The WWE Draft was something fans were wanting to see for a while, and the 2023 draft has done a great job at mixing up the WWE roster. One big surprise during the latest episode of Smackdown Live was the return of AJ Styles, as him and The OC were drafted to Smackdown.
Styles has been out of action due a broken ankle since December 2022. If there was any doubt of the condition of Styles following his return – have no fear, he’s 100% cleared to return to the ring.
AJ Styles Is 100% Cleared In WWE Following Broken Ankle
Steve Carrier would report the following via Twitter – announcing that Styles is cleared to compete in WWE once again.
.”AJ Styles made his big return during the WWE Draft alongside the OC.
They will be on the blue brand now, and we have been able to confirm that AJ Styles is 100% cleared to compete.
His broken ankle is now behind him, and he’s ready to go.”
The broken ankle kept Styles out of action for WrestleMania, ending a 7 year streak of matches at the event. Styles was also out for the 2023 Royal Rumble match, having been injured in December during a WWE Live Event.
A Strong Contender For Roman Reigns
He’s expected to be a main event player on Smackdown Live, with a feud against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns likely to happen in 2023. Styles has previous history with Reigns, facing him in a series of championship matches in 2016.
He’s one of the few major names yet to face Reigns during his current reign, and should be able to bring out some impressive matches. Styles has backup in the form of Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson & Mia Yim as well – enabling him to even the odds against The Bloodline.
Another name who has not yet faced Reigns is Randy Orton, who is still on the injured list within WWE. Orton has no current timetable for his return to the ring following a 2022 back injury.
