Over the past six years, we’ve seen one of the fastest rising tag teams in professional wrestling with The Street Profits. Starting off in WWE NXT, the team of Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins would win the Evolve Tag Team Championships, WWE NXT Tag Team Championships, WWE RAW Tag Team Championships, and the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships. They’re a fan favorite team, getting arenas behind them with ease – but everyone has already noticed that Ford is better than a simple tag team wrestler. This has led to discussions on if Dawkins will turn on him – which might never happen.
Angelo Dawkins Denies That Street Profits Could Ever Split Up
While speaking on the Attitude Era podcast, Dawkins was asked if there was ever any plans to split up The Street Profits – but he would deny that they would ever even consider turning on each other. Simply put – they’re always going to be friends.
Nah, never. Never. We’re brothers till the end bro. We’re always gonna support each other no matter what, we always got each other’s back, we ain’t never turning.
The Rockers Formula Isn’t Always Going To Work For A Tag Team
It seems obvious that Montez Ford is going to break out as a singles star in 2023. He showed his skills during the Elimination Chamber match, which some expected him to win in shocking fashion. However – while the default in WWE has always been that tag teams end in violence, trying to follow the path set by The Rockers? That won’t always work.
Sometimes, you can just have someone like Dawkins accept that it’s time for Ford to chase singles gold, and look to help their friend achieve that goal. This is a path that worked for both Big E & Kofi Kingston of The New Day – and could work just as well for The Street Profits.
