WWE Monday Night Raw continues. Zelina Vega is on commentary for this match with Austin Theory taking on Akira Tozawa. Guess it’s finally about time for Theory to win a match on Raw. It’s also a chance for them to plug the upcoming tournament to crown the Interim Cruiserweight Champion since Tozawa is involved.
Austin Theory vs. Akira Tozawa
Theory avoids a few rolling enziguri kicks but eventually Tozawa nails one. Charges and starts the Corner Ten Punches but Theory trips him facefirst onto the top turnbuckle. Snapmare, leaping stomp to the chest. More chest stomps in the corner. Pulls him to the middle of the ring and pounds him with mounted punches, chinlock cinched in, knee to the shoulder blades. Knife edge chop to the chest, power whip to the corner for a 2 count. Tozawa escapes a front facelock, push kick deflected, Theory with a trip, Standing Moonsault for a nearfall! Arm wringer, forearm grinding into the face. Presses his face against the mat, slams the arm into the canvas. Tozawa fights his way up with punches but a single forearm sends Tozawa to the canvas. Snap suplex for a nearfall! Theory with a Pendulum Backbreaker for a 2 count!
Akira fights his way up, reverses a powerbomb attempt with a rana which sends Theory scrambling to the floor. Theory tries to get up onto the apron but a charging big boot takes him to the floor. Akira with a charging senton off the apron lands flush! Takes Theory into the ring, WWE Headkick, Tozawa going up top, Missile Dropkick for a nearfall! Akira hoists him to his feet with a waistlock. Akira avoids a spinning back elbow, cinches Austin Theory into the Octopus Stretch! But Theory powers out of it and gets him onto his shoulders, very impressive, plants him with the ATL and that is that!
Winner: Austin Theory
As Theory celebrates, Andrade and Angel Garza enter the ring and stand tall as their manager Zelina Vega stands atop the announce table and watches on. They gang up on Tozawa, Andrade with a rope-hung DDT! They then share a fist bump in the middle of the ring. Looks like they’re putting more emphasis on these guys as a group. Kinda cool considering Zelina only built this stable out of pure necessity, and with Rollins’ group basically gone and AJ likely off-screen for a while following the Boneyard match, they have a real shot at being a top stable on Raw.
