This past Monday night, we’d finally see the RAW Tag Team Championship reign of RK-Bro come to an end. It was always going to come, but few expected Alpha Academy to be the one to finally end it. The partnership between Otis & Chad Gable has been a fun tag team, but few expected them to win tag team gold in WWE before the team would be carelessly split up. However, Chad Gable has now shown just how deep this friendship goes with Otis – and what made this moment so huge for them.
Chad Gable & Otis Have Been Best Friends For Over A Decade
Taking to Twitter following this championship win, Gable had a long statement waiting in his notes app to be shared. Joined by photos of Gable & Otis over the years, the statement had the following information for fans.
“There’s winning championships, and then there’s achieving dreams alongside your best friend. Otis and I have been talking about a night like last night since we were training for the Olympics together in Colorado Springs in 2011. The Alpha Academy relationship is much more than a tag team. It’s been a brotherhood for 10+ years.
After getting called up to RAW, I jokingly told Otis there was a house for sale up the street for me if he wanted to move in. Within days, he told me he put it an offer and would be there in a few weeks. Since then, he’s come over nearly every single day for us to leave puddles of sweat in my garage in some of the grittiest training sessions you could ever imagine, all with the goal of continually making progress in this profession and in life.
I could not be happier or more proud of this man. My protege, my prized pupil, my #1 guy. But most importantly, my friend. We did it.”
First Reign For Otis, But Gable Is On His Way To Being A Tag Team Legend In WWE
This is the first time Otis has held gold within WWE, with his other accomplishment being winning Money in The Bank back in 2020. He would never cash in, and lose the briefcase to The Miz instead. However, Chad Gable is now a four time Tag Team Champion in WWE, with three different partners. Two reigns came with American Alpha partner Jason Jordan, one came with Bobby Roode, and now he has found success with Otis.
Chad Gable might be skilled enough to wrestle for the world championships in WWE, but he’s found his niche as one of the best tag team specialists in the company. We can only hope that this team with Otis sticks for a longer amount of time than other teams that Gable has been in, as it might be the best yet.
