Fandango Officially Added To The NXT Roster Page

On this past episode of NXT, Fandango made a surprise appearance, rescuing partner Tyler Breeze after he was being assaulted by the Forgotten Sons. With TakeOver emanating from Toronto a week from Saturday, and Breeze being NXT’s most prominent Canadian, I suspect a match between the two teams will be set for next week’s episode of NXT. (NXT episodes the week after a TakeOver are always filmed in the hour or so before the event proper takes place.)

And this is not just a one-off deal. Just like his partner, it would appear that Fandango is back in NXT to stay. His name has been moved to the NXT section on WWE.com’s roster pages. Fandango came back to a bigger reaction than he’s received in quite some time, with a crowd that clearly missed him and were eager to bring back the Fandangoing trend atleast for a night.

It’s a warm welcome for someone who’s been gone for so long. Not only has he been out of the spotlight for many years, but he’s been out of action entirely for about 13 months. A shoulder injury suffered in June of 2018 sidelined him. It was initially expected that he’d be out for six months but he ended up missing double that, a little over a year.

But he’s back in action now, and with him, the revitalization of Breezango.

Fandango has already returned to the ring in NXT live events in which he and Breeze have quickly taken to competing against the Forgotten Sons among other tandems. And I for one am truly happy to see him back. Breezango aka the Fashion Police were always an entertaining team but they’re also both very talented wrestlers. And they never really got to show off their full potential in tag team action. But I’m hopeful, and confident, that this will now be rectified.

It comes at a convenient time, NXT could use more babyface tag teams for certain. They’ve already lost the War Raiders and Heavy Machinery to the main roster this year. And with the tag champion Street Profits regularly appearing on Raw, it’s clear their days are numbered as well. That’s a pretty big void on the face side, where no new teams have really had time to emerge. So the return of Breezango is very much welcome right now. And odds are good the main roster isn’t going to take either of them again any time soon. It’s clear Vince doesn’t see anything in them anymore.

That’s an unfortunate oversight on his part, but it’s to NXT’s benefit. I hope it becomes a trend, personally. There are plenty others where they came from who are in dire straights on the main roster. The recently returning Killian Dane is another fine example. He was beloved by the NXT audience but never even really got a chance on Raw or SmackDown.

I presume that the Undisputed Era are going to reclaim the tag titles at TakeOver: Toronto. And should that be the case, Breezango will make fine challengers in the coming months.

I’m a hardcore wrestling fan, by which I mean I’m a hardcore fan of wrestling... but I also have nothing against hardcore wrestling! I’ve been watching since 2006, back when I was 12 years old. In that time I’ve fervently followed WWE, TNA, ROH, Lucha Underground and others. Today I’m most passionate about NXT, New Japan and especially AEW! You could call me a modern wrestling savant but I know my old school stuff as well... I’ll be your huckleberry all night long.
