WWE Friday Night SmackDown continues. A video package details Triple H’s debut year and we see the American Blueblood in all his glory. We then get to our first Money In The Bank qualifier tonight, with King Corbin taking on Drew Gulak!
King Corbin vs. Drew Gulak (Men’s Money In The Bank Qualifying Match)
Corbin quickly tosses Drew from the ring and gloats, claiming Gulak doesn’t belong in the ring with him. Drew gets back in and trips him to the canvas, Corbin fights back up and chokes him against the corner. Clubbering blows to the back, forearm to the face. Drew wants a single leg but Corbin stands his ground, so instead he gets him with a dropkick to the leg instead. Takes him over to the apron and kicks him off, drives Corbin into the announce table, dropkicks him over it to the floor! Drew stands triumphant atop the table as we go to break!
When we come back, Corbin takes Drew into the corner to break an armbar, clotheslines him to the mat for a 2 count. Forearm to the chest. Drew fights back, roll-up for a quick 2 count but Corbin hoists him up and just kinda spins him to the mat for a nearfall. Stomps him into the corner and demands that he give up. Drew blocks a big boot, sends him staggering with hard forearms. Pummels him into the opposite corner! Charging dropkick sends Corbin into the corner! Charges again but Corbin grabs him by the throat, Gulak counters a chokeslam into a sunset flip for a 2 count! Charging crossbody for another 2 count. Corbin bails, Gulak pursues, Corbin tries a kick but Drew blocks it and Dragon Screw Legwhips him into the steps! Takes him into the ring to cover for a nearfall… but in the background, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro attack Daniel Bryan at ringside! They pull him out into the crowd area and toss him into an LED screen! This distracts Gulak, allowing Corbin to grab him for the End Of Days and get the pin!
Winner: King Corbin
Afterwards, Shinsuke and Cesaro hold Gulak in place as Corbin just slams the scepter right into his face! Heels stand tall.
Honestly with how wacky the Money In The Bank matches will be this year, it would’ve been a little disappointing to not have someone like King Corbin involved.
