Since 2008, one of the most popular names in WWE has been Kofi Kingston. He’s won many tag team and midcard championships, and had one of the best moments in WrestleMania history with what fans dubbed “KofiMania” when he won the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan. He never reached the WWE Championship again, but remains a full time talent 15 years after his debut, and he’s happy to still be around like this.
Kofi Kingston Is Glad To Still Wrestle Full Time
While speaking to Graham “GSM” Matthews on WrestleRant radio, Kingston would have a chance to speak about his lengthy time on the WWE roster. Kingston would be quoted saying the following about this time in WWE.
“It’s wild to have been around for so long. I look around the locker room and it’s like man, I don’t know really any of these guys. I know them, but as far as knowing them intimately and personally, there’s a new faces, which is a good thing. I’m just blessed to be able to still be hungry, be healthy and having fun and be able to do this on a full-time basis.”
Right now, Kofi is working on Smackdown Live as one half of The New Day with Xavier Woods. The third member Big E is currently out with a major neck injury, with his in-ring status still up in the air.
Being A WWE Fan In 2022 Is Different
Another topic that would come up in this interview is how different being a WWE fan in 2022 is. Fans have insane access to wrestlers now through the likes of social media, and things like UpUpDownDown, allowing for stronger connections. Kingston had the following to say about being a WWE fan in 2022.
“I think being a fan of WWE now is so different is so different than it was in the 70s, 80s, 90s, people didn’t have access to your favorite WWE superstars, and now, granted we’re not in conversation with everybody, we can’t be, there’s so many people. But you get to see behind the scenes. We’re talking about UpUpDownDown and being on the gaming channel, you have a lot of people who play video games. It might be a totally different persona than you see on television, but it’s very relatable because people like games. So it’s cool to be able to identify and relate to people on a very personal level in so many different ways,”
