Things are getting interesting in the McMahon family with Vince voluntarily stepping down as Chairman and CEO of the WWE pending the completion of the investigation into his alleged “hush money”.
Stephanie stepped in as interim CEO until the investigation is finished.
This who thing has only chipped away at the top of an iceberg as more and more reports are coming out about Vince and his marriage to Linda McMahon.
While they’re still married, it’s been reported that they haven’t lived together for a long time. Decades, according to Rene Dupree on his Café de Rene podcast.
Multiple affairs
It’s been reported that the investigation into Vince paying an unnamed woman $3 million to keep their affair quite has led to other non-disclosure agreements that have been used over the years.
Rene Dupree discussed this and it led to him talking about what he heard about Vince and Linda’s relationship status.
“I heard that Vince and Linda are still legally married but they haven’t lived together in decades.”
This is shocking in many ways, and while it may be easy to dismiss what Rene said, it looks like it may be true as Dave Meltzer shared his thoughts on Wrestling Observer Radio.
“Technically they’re married. I mean, they haven’t been together in a long, long time though.”
With everything in upheaval due to the investigation bringing to light McMahon’s affairs, it’s been reported that things will continue on WWE Smackdown on June 17 like normal, and McMahon and John Laurinaitis will be there as planned.
Business as usual
This could make things interesting tonight as both men have been named in the investigation and Fightful Select reported that sources are saying Laurinaitis will lose his position in the company as there were reportedly suspicions about his conduct through the 2000s.
We’re curious if Smackdown will divert attention away from the investigation and McMahon’s relationship with his wife as well as stepping down, or will they address it with their usual flair?
This is an uncertain time for the company and their fans, and we’re sure more updates will be coming over the next few days or even weeks as the investigation continues.
It’s times like this that one surrounds themselves with their loving family to try to make it through, and we’re sure we’ll hear something along those lines from McMahon, but given all that’s coming out it may be hard for fans to accept.
