Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here and we are closing in on a pretty damn crazy weekend of wrestling. The long talked about NXT main roster invasion has finally happened over the past few weeks, and we’ve been led to a truly unique couple of shows. Rounding out the weekend, WWE Survivor Series 2019 is upon us, and it’s set to be a very unique show to say the very least. It’s a three way war, with Raw vs. SmackDown vs. NXT! Plus, three very interesting world title matches will be taking place as well.
Regardless of what you think of the build, the card itself looks incredible. It should be a surreal experience seeing these bouts come to head. And I’ll be doing a match by match preview for the whole show, so let’s get to it!
It’s extraordinarily late but they finally announced some matches for the WWE Survivor Series 2019 Kickoff show! And it should be an exciting, fast-paced one for sure. Lio Rush will be defending the NXT Cruiserweight Championship!
NXT Cruiserweight Championship Triple Threat Match: Lio Rush (c) vs. Akira Tozawa vs. Kalisto
NXT’s Lio Rush defends against Raw’s Akira Tozawa and SmackDown’s Kalisto, continuing the trend of three-way brand warfare. Lio is extraordinarily quick, the fastest man under the WWE banner. Akira Tozawa is of course frightfully underrated, but a very talented individual in his own right, a great example of the Japanese Junior stylings. And Kalisto brings the good lucha things of course. It’s actually a pretty cool match-up when I think about it, as you have the American style cruiser defending against the junior and the luchador. That’s essentially the three most famous traditional styles of the lighter workers. Cool stuff!
Anyway, there’s absolutely no way Lio’s losing that thing anytime soon. He only recently won it and he’s just such a perfect champion in so many ways. Lio Rush to retain, for sure. I’ll be curious to see what reception he gets, hopefully the NXT exposure has aided the cruiserweight division as a whole. He’s certainly been tearing it up in front of hot crowds over there!
WWE Survivor Series 2019 will be airing this Saturday on the WWE Network at 7 PM Eastern Time, 6 Central. There will also be a two hour pre-show leading into the event. The show emanates from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer, and I will be giving you a live play by play of the show as it happens. Stay tuned!
