Tonight is the biggest night yet for the main roster run of former two time NXT Champion, Tommaso Ciampa. Last week, he won a triple threat to qualify for a #1 contender match against AJ Styles, and tonight will face Bobby Lashley for the WWE United States Championship. Needless to say, the rise of Triple H to head of creative in WWE has done a lot for Ciampa in a short time – and more could be coming tonight.
Tommaso Ciampa Dedicates US Championship Match To Harley Race – Teases The Return Of Johnny Gargano
Ahead of his match with Lashley, Ciampa would make a tweet to promote the match – with an interesting touch included. “Tonight…. (-_•)” alongside the hashtags #andnew and #forharley would be the contents of this tweet.
The hashtags are pretty self explanatory. He intends to walk away from the event as champion, and one of his trainers was Harley Race – an iconic United States Champion. However the (-_•) is the most interesting part of this puzzle. That is the logo that was often used by Johnny Gargano, a close friend and bitter rival of Ciampas.
Gargano had left WWE earlier in the year, finishing up his time on the NXT brand – and going on to become a father. However, he’s been keen to get back into the ring – and with Triple H now in charge, the belief of him going back to WWE has become all the more prevalent.
Gargano’s Best Fit Is WWE
There’s been discourse that he’d simply be lost in the shuffle of AEW, and is too big a name for Impact Wrestling – but a Triple H run WWE? That perfectly suits him, after the amazing run he had in NXT. Add in that tonights episode of Monday Night RAW comes from Gargano’s hometown of Cleveland, and a #D.I.Y reunion could be more possible than ever before.
With WWE lacking in babyfaces at the moment, Gargano would be an excellent fit – and despite his size, could become one of the top names in the company. The hole left in the roster by the exit of Daniel Bryan is a hard one to fill – and only someone like Gargano is capable to trying to fill it.
