WWE Wrestling News knew it was bound to happen after Don Callis helped Kenny Omega defeat Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite and then said we’ll have to tune into Impact Wrestling on Tuesday to find out why.
This has been coming for a while, and several wrestling promotions have been working together in recent months, bringing to mind the old territory system.
Rising stars like Brian Pillman Jr., who mainly wrestles for Al Snow’s OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling) has wrestled on AEW Dynamite before and was announced to do so again next week in tag team action.
Impact Wrestling has also been bringing in fresh and old talent since the WWE releasing six months ago, and it’s help inject new life into them since several stars debut at Slammiversary.

With so many companies working together and allowing their wrestlers to function like they used to prior to exclusive contracts, it as only a matter of time before the WWE threw it’s hat in the ring.
Unfortunately for Vince McMahon, it seems more like damage control than anything else.
Triple H claims WWE willing to work with others
According to Wrestling Inc, at a press meeting to promote WWE NXT Takeover: War Games 2020 this Sunday, Triple H made the announcement:
“You know, in what you’ve seen in the past, PROGRESS, ICW, EVOLVE, all those things, yeah, we’re open for business in a lot of ways,” Triple H responded. “And a lot of things, and a lot of everything. People’s thoughts, misperceptions [sic], their perceived knowledge of what we do, how we thinks, and all that stuff is often greatly misinterpreted, and not necessarily accurate.
“So, OK, are we open to the right business opportunities? Yeah, at any given time we’re open to things and it just depends on what they are, and if they’re beneficial to us longterm. And again, when I say longterm I’m not talking about 3 months or 6 months. Longterm… 10 years. You know… 10 years, 15 years from now. Is that beneficial? Is that meaningful? Is that longterm? That’s how we think. It’s much longer in duration, not necessarily worried about the minute-by-minutes. It’s the long duration. And so, open for business. I think you hear Vince [McMahon] say that a lot. I’ve been around him a lot to know that if it’s the right thing, and it’s meaningful to business, he’s open to anything.”
While this makes sense, it’s also important to not most of those collaboration come in the form of developing talent, not an equal partnership.
It’s also important to note that out of the promotions mentioned above, Evolve was recently bought by the WWE and the others are barely functioning. That’s a far cry from the type of partnership AEW, Impact, and others look to be are forming.
True collaboration
The WWE has been taking a lot of heat, and deservedly so, for forcing their talent to relinquish control of their third party platforms, lack of healthcare, and so on.
King Kong Bundy once said that he and McMahon had a falling out when he did a commercial and it became pretty big. According to him, McMahon then buried him because he didn’t get any of the money for the WWE.
AEW and Impact Wrestling are working together to help keep wrestling alive, not bury it all under one umbrella.
AEW has given the NWA a lifeline during the pandemic, and now that they’re teaming with Impact Wrestling, allegedly NJPW it shows potential that others like OVW will also be brought in.
This will bring a much needed balance to professional wrestling and it’ll not only give fans more choices but it’ll help the wrestlers’ careers as well.
Just like during the Monday Night Wars were great for wrestling overall, WWE Wrestling news thinks this could lead to the same type of hype. Hopefully, no one will seek to destroy the other this time.
