It’s almost time for a very special show, everyone: WWE Worlds Collide 2020! Our first of two title matches pits Angel Garza against three very talented cruiserweights! My name is Jordan Huie, you are here at the Overtimer and you can expect the same kind of coverage as always for this show here tonight! This unique event pits NXT and NXT UK against one another in a night-long battle for supremacy! The two already took down Raw and SmackDown a few months ago, so why not settle things between each other now?
As stated above, this isn’t just a pure exhibition. We’re looking at two of NXT’s championships being defended here tonight!
NXT Cruiserweight Championship: Angel Garza (c) vs. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott vs. Jordan Devlin vs. Travis Banks
Everyone’s favorite wrestling heartthrob Angel Garza puts his Cruiserweight title on the line here tonight! Isaiah Scott defeated former champion Lio Rush to earn his way into this title match! Meanwhile Jordan Devlin and Travis Banks are here following wins over Ligero and The Brian Kendrick respectively!
Suffice to say, there is gonna be a ton of pure athleticism and skill in that ring.
All four of them together, one can only imagine how blazingly fast this one is gonna be. Swerve Scott is among the hottest prospects going in NXT in his own right. He’s a remarkably smooth competitor, both in character and in style. It’s very hard not to get caught up into the chants of “Swerve” whenever he comes out.
Jordan Devlin is among NXT UK’s best and brightest as well. I think a lot of people sleep on just how good he is honestly. He’s just coming off one of the greatest matches under the WWE banner in the past twelve months, having put on a classic with Tyler Bate at NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool II. Meanwhile his old rival Travis Banks is thought by many to be a fine oldschool babyface, frequently injured (on-screen) but always fighting his heart out. The Kiwi Buzzsaw is sure to give it his all.
But while this should be an excellent display of a match, and a great representation of Cruiserweight wrestling, it’s hard for me to foresee a title change here. This title probably ain’t jumping to NXT UK, and while I do think Swerve will get the gold eventually, it won’t be on a night like this. Garza over.
