Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and I’ll be here with you all night to give you the live coverage of the show! Live recap and results as they come, plus extensive previews of everything we can expect to see right here tonight! The kickoff show is underway as I type but we’re a ways away from seeing anything of note, including our WWE Universal Championship match, where the Fiend will be defending against Daniel Bryan! Tonight is a special night on the calendar of any pro wrestling fan, folks. We aren’t far from the show truly beginning everyone, so let’s go with the previews!
Strap Match for the WWE Universal Championship: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
This bout is quite a ways in the making folks. The Fiend Bray Wyatt has been quite dominant in his reign thus far, never truly coming all that close to losing the WWE Universal Championship since obtaining. In fact, the Fiend has yet to be pinned or made to submit since it’s debut back at SummerSlam of last year, where it destroyed Finn Balor in what is, to date, his final match on the main roster.
Daniel Bryan is of course a multiple time WWE Champion, even a WrestleMania headliner. But tonight is quite the challenge for anybody. Still, Bryan looks set to be more ready for this than anyone, given his many prior run-ins. He’s effectively the only man that the Fiend has thus far not managed to change after extensively feuding with him. The likes of Finn Balor, Seth Rollins and the Miz have all turned heel shortly after working with the Fiend, but up to this point Bryan has managed to resist it.
Even after he tore through a ring, pulled him through it and ripped every bit of hair from his head just to try and trick us into thinking a big transformation was coming, still Bryan persisted and managed to revive the Yes! Movement to continue channeling that energy into his rise to the top. Tonight, Bryan looks to not only become world champion yet again, but defeat a true horror movie villain to make it happen.
And, just as they signed on the dotted line for – the Fiend with his own blood – it’s gonna be a strap match! Bryan asked for that much, but I really can’t imagine the Fiend drops the belt before WrestleMania. It just seems too obvious. Fiend over.
