Ladies and gentlemen, tonight is a very special night! And not just because of this awesome DIY vs. Moustache Mountain match we’ve got to look forward to! This is WWE Worlds Collide 2020, pitting NXT vs. NXT UK! These two brands are generally closer than most, being that NXT UK is more akin to an overseas sister promotion than a true rival. But there’s still plenty of pride on the line between the two of them. They joined forces to take out Raw and SmackDown back at Survivor Series, so now there’s just the question as to who, between the two brands, is the better one? Who is truly… NXT?
Incidentally, until this very moment, I never realized that ‘mustache’ is one of those words that’s different depending on what part of the world you’re from. I guess I just never looked at it closely enough. But yeah, Moustache Mountain is how Bate and Seven spell it, which means it’s technically the more accurate thing to type. If they were an American team, the spelling would be different… just kind of a funny aside. Anyway, now’s not the time for that, we have a dream match to get into!
DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) vs. Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven)
Two storied and cherished tag teams facing off here. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were one of the best tandems in NXT’s history, though their time together was tragically short. Ciampa betrayed Gargano and the two ended up embroiled in one of the black and gold brand’s most famous rivalries of all time instead. However DIY have reunited here for this very special match on this very special night.
Moustache Mountain, Tyler Bate and Trent Seven, are also among the top teams ever. They’re one of very few tandems in the modern era to have managed to get a five star match to their name. Sadly, their accolades as far as titles go have been comparatively lacking. They did hold the NXT Tag Team Championships, but only very briefly. Their reign was more meant to legitimize the NXT UK tag division than anything else, as they swiftly moved from NXT proper after losing them.
This should absolutely rule, no doubt about it. And I actually think this is a spot where UK has a real shot at victory. I think this should be a balanced thing, so I’ll say Moustache Mountain over. They’re the more regular team anyway.
