Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Well, except maybe Jon Moxley’s anger towards the WWE at this moment. Recently on Chris Jericho’s podcast, aptly named Talk Is Jericho, the former Dean Ambrose lit into the WWE for perceived slights and blamed them for poor storylines where he was made to look “uncool”.
Moxley emphatically stated that the scripts and promos that he was given were absolutely horrible and was doing his character a huge disservice. He made sure to emphasize that all of this was coming straight from Vince McMahon. If you listen to the podcast, Moxley is relating specific examples as he incoherently tries to relate just how unhappy he was in the WWE. He felt they had dropped the ball on what he could be doing as he was above average on the mic and in the ring. To say he burned a bridge during this podcast would be understating it. But let’s look at the hard facts on how WWE treated Moxley instead of relying on his rambling stories about how he was slighted and given goofy storylines.

Brought Up to the Main Roster Quickly
Moxley signed a developmental deal with the WWE in April 2011. He was brought up to the main roster at Survivor Series in 2012. He only spent a bit over a year in the WWE minors. For a brawler that barely has a muscle on his body and might weigh all of 210 pounds, he should have been profusely thanking them.
Pushed to the Moon
Moxley debuted with the faction Shield and immediately was given the push of all pushes. The three of those guys were shoved down all of our throats. At first, it was all pretty interesting and made great tv. But the Shield grew stale well before they were split up. And since then, they have specials on the WWE Network when the three of them were put together again. The problem is, everyone was past the idea of caring about the Shield except Vince McMahon. It was sort of like they continue to do with DX. DX was at its best when Shawn Michaels was leading them. No one believes DX has been cool for the last 20 years. Except, once again, DX and Vince McMahon. Perhaps Stephanie as well.

Given Every Title Possible
Think of every title possible in the WWE and Vince had Moxley win it. His first title was the U.S. Championship, but it didn’t stop there. He would go on to become the WWE World Champion, the Intercontinental Champion, and a Tag Team Champion. He even won the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2016. Still, Moxley proclaims the WWE was wasting his talent.
What Exactly Is His Talent?
If you believe Moxley, he is above average in the ring and on the mic he can be a terror. Well, when the WWE put him on the Stone Cold podcast on the WWE Network, he basically shit the bed. He seemed uninterested and denied many of the details Steve Austin had researched to find out more about him. I’ve heard coma patients give a better interview.
The WWE still believed in Moxley though. They gave him a talk show segment on Raw that was beyond painful to watch. If he views himself as someone who can talk with the best, he had a lived microphone in the ring week after week. Do something with it! You had the perfect chance to make yourself stand out.

The best Moxley has to offer is his wrestling ability in the ring. He does have an interesting style. But if you thought long enough, you could name 20 wrestlers currently in the WWE that easily better in the ring than he was.
Instead of Moxley burying the WWE on his way out the door, he should have been thanking them for investing so much in him. Unfortunately, he is one of these people that gets a bit of fame and starts to believe in his own hype. Will he do well in AEW? He does have the branding behind him and a public that knows him much better than most of the other wrestlers, so he will be viewed as one of the leaders of AEW. Who knows? Maybe Jon will get it all together and cut some amazing promos and live up to his self-perceived greatness. Perhaps along the way, Jon Moxley will gain some much-needed humility in the process.
