Mia Yim was seemingly really looking forward to going to war tonight in the first-ever women’s WarGames match. She went so far as to don Bull Nakano tribute facepaint to get into her inner warrior. However, on the NXT TakeOver: WarGames pre-show, we saw her laid out backstage and she’ll end up missing the show. As of this writing, the spot is now open.
My immediate thought upon seeing that was one Dakota Kai. She was notably left off the WarGames team and obviously very disheartened by it. It seemed like it was setting up something, so for Mia to be taken out in this fashion with a mystery assailant seems very suspicious. Might we be about to see a heel turn for the captain of Team Kick?
This comes off a pretty gruesome injury that Yim sustained a couple of weeks ago in a ladder match, which saw the bridge of her nose turned into a gash. So it’s also possible that she wasn’t really cleared for the match to begin with and they opted to have her removal become an angle. Should that be the case, hopefully her injury isn’t too severe.
We’ll learn who is replacing her very soon.
