Ladies and gentlemen, the 2020 edition of the WWE Royal Rumble is on tonight! We are but hours away from one of pro wrestling’s most cherished of traditions! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to complete this mini-series looking at ten favorites to win both the Men and Women’s matches! While I’m mostly looking at all the obvious potential winners, I also don’t mind giving time to some wildcards! Including the subject of this article, Naomi!

How 2019 Went For Naomi:
Ooh wow I’m uh… not gonna have a lot to talk about here.
Well, at the start of the year, Naomi formed a tag team with Carmella based around them being the two notable dancers in the women’s division. It was a tad silly, but I actually did think it had some legs. Between the two of them, they covered for each other’s weaknesses well, which is an important thing for a team. But it didn’t last. Ultimately they were only put together so they could have six teams for the Elimination Chamber match which crowned the inaugural Women’s Tag Team Champions. Since losing that match, they’ve never teamed again.
Naomi then found herself in the women’s battle royal at WrestleMania where didn’t make it particularly far. She was largely directionless following this but did win enough to earn her way into the Women’s Money In The Bank ladder match. She came up short again however and drifted for a bit for the next couple of months. Then… stuff happened. When her husband Jimmy Uso got himself arrested for another DUI, both Usos and Naomi were all swiftly taken off of television entirely. We haven’t felt the Glow at all since July.
Where does that leave her chances?
However, the Usos finally made their return a few weeks back. Given that, I have to assume that Naomi’s own comeback could not be far behind. And with the timing and all, I can only imagine that she’ll be making her return as an entrant in the Rumble. That just makes all the sense in the world to me, and that’s largely why I gave her a little bit of spotlight here.
In all honesty though, unless something happened during her absence that greatly changed how WWE looks at her, the odds of her winning this match are very low. She’ll probably have another fun Kofi Save spot though, so that’ll be nice.
What would her story be?
It can be easy to forget that not only has Naomi won the SmackDown Women’s title but she’s done so at WrestleMania before! If she somehow won the Rumble, no doubt she’d be looking to duplicate this feat and put an end to Bayley and Sasha Banks’ bullying ways in the process.
