On Christmas Eve, World Wonder Ring Stardom (Stardom) held the Stardom Year-End Climax to complete their 2019 calendar of events. The marquee match was STARS member Mayu Iwatani making her v1 defense of the World of Stardom Championship against Oedo Tai member Kagetsu.
The co-headline was STARS member Arisa Hoshiki making her v8 defense of the Wonder of Stardom Championship against Tokyo Cyber Squad member Konami.
The second co-headline was Tokyo Cyber Squad member Hana Kimura against Giulia in a grudge match. Stardom Year-End Climax was able to draw 1,334 fans to Korakuen Hall, the biggest Stardom house of 2019 and largest since drawing 1,571 fans to Stardom Goddesses Of Destiny on June 17, 2018, which was Io Shirai’s last match in the promotion to date.
Of note, Stardom was purchased by Bushiroad, who also owns New Japan Pro Wrestling in October 2019. In Bushiroad’s corporate structure, Stardom is within the Bushiroad Fight subsidiary, while NJPW exists as it’s own entity.
With the success of Stardom Year-End Climax, the future looks bright for Stardom with a big 2020 in front of them and a new television deal with Nippon TV (NTV), despite the retirement of Hazuki and the upcoming retirement of Kagetsu.
At Stardom Year-End Climax, it was also announced that Stardom would have a showcase dark match on the first night of Wrestle Kingdom 14 on January 4th at the Tokyo Dome, in what should be a good showcase for Stardom in front of their primary market. Not to mention, Hana Kimura would also slap Bushiroad Director Takaaki Kidani during the event.

Stardom begins 2020 with a busy January and February as Bushiroad attempts to build the brand throughout Japan. With the added television exposure, it’s possible Stardom has it’s best business year to date in the upcoming year.
