New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) began the Road to TOKYO DOME tour ahead of the two-night Wrestle Kingdom 15 event on January 4th and January 5th at the legendary Tokyo Dome in Miyagi, Japan. The matches continued at the Sendai Sunplaza Hall in Yamanashi, Japan in front of 897 fans. The crowd size was reduced due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) pandemic.

Hiromu came into the match after a victory over NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lion Yuya Uemura on November 25th, while Eagles dropped the fall to reigning two-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and Bullet Club member “Bone Soldier” Taiji Ishimori on the same night.

The match saw the quickness and kicking ability of Wato take on the power and submission ability of Sho. Wato proved he could hang at the top of the Junior Heavyweight division, giving Sho a stiff challenge and absorbing his opponents’ physical offense.
