Now this is a fun one.
The internet wrestling community has been asking questions regarding Bray Wyatt’s Fiend character. The best part is most aren’t about what’s next for the Fiend, but who.
The other day, Bray Wyatt replied on Twitter to the question as to which legend the Fiend should attack next with: Sting.
So far, the Fiend had gone after legends that were well past their primes (aside from Finn Balor), and Sting isn’t too far past wrestling physically wise except for his neck, according to reports. By all means, an injured neck is a serious issue and has forced several greats into retirement (Steve Austin, Arn Anderson to name a couple), but it’s safe to say Sting is still a physical presence. At least, that’s the hope.
Will this happen?
That’s a whole other question. There’s little doubt that Wyatt has a hit list of legends he’d like to go after, if only just to share the stage with them. And who can blame him? A gimmick like his gives him every opportunity to do just that, but there’s another name out there as a potential victim that, if done right, will launch him into the stratosphere: “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
Austin is slated to appear on Monday Night Raw on September 9, so there is a possibility this could happen.
Why?
Look at it this way, the Fiend has gone after several legends, but none have really had the impact with fans. They’ve tried to run away or stood in the ring and were ambushed.
There is, or should be, no way that Austin would be taken by surprise. Even if he is, he’d be one of the best equipped to fight him off, making the Fiend earn his “win.”
Austin is still a fan favorite, and if Wyatt can take him out, it’ll open up the possibilities. One: we get to see Austin in limited action again, and Austin 3:16 has another name added to the long list of whippins. Two: Wyatt succeeds and the Fiend is suddenly on the radar for bigger things, like moving through the roster for a Universal title shot, that just happens to be the consensus for a lot of fans. Well, him winning it is, to be honest.
The fact is, Wyatt has paid his dues, has tremendous talent in the ring and with the mic, so he deserves to be in the conversation after some more matches. Going after Austin could be just the thing he needs.
