WWE Commentator Corey Graves Opened Himself Up To Questions On Reddit From Fans

Today on the r/SquaredCircle section of reddit, the voice of Friday Night Smackdown Corey Graves with help from the u/RealWWE account did an interview which allowed fans to ask him whatever was on their mind. He was promoting his new podcast, After The Bell.

Many questions were skipped, but he answered a very nice chunk and I’m here to save you from ever going to that cursed section of the internet by providing some of the highlights from this thread. I unfortunately missed the question period myself, was intending to ask him if he gets his suits from the same store as Don Cherry, and the world might never know now.

WWE Commentator Corey Graves Opened Himself Up To Questions On Reddit From Fans

User u/incredibleamadeuscho asked “What are the main differences (if any) in doing commentary for Raw and Smackdown as opposed to NXT?” to which Corey responded “In NXT, the focus was all about in-ring action. Raw and SmackDown have so many different elements, such as sponsorships, etc. Just so much more going on at all times.”

u/FromThe732 asked if anyone is allowed to use Graves old submission hold, the Lucky 13, to which Corey responded honestly with “Anybody who can remember how to put it on is welcome to have it. I used to forget half the time.”

u/tyjet asked “Do you think it would be beneficial to split WrestleMania into a 2 day event instead of 1 long event?” to which Graves replied “I think that’s a great idea. It would help keep fans engaged for the duration. It can be exhausting sitting through 6 or 7 hours of anything, even WrestleMania.”

u/deusnuditate asked “Would you rather fight 100 duck sized Brock Lesnars or one Brock Lesnar sized duck?” and Corey gave the correct answer of “100 duck-sized Brocks, because ducks have TEETH.” because a duck that big would be absolutely terrifying and even Brock Lesnar wouldn’t want to deal with that.

u/PobgaIsGood asked “How do toilet breaks work with long PPV eg. WrestleMania?” which is something I’ve always wondered so I’m glad someone asked. Corey responded with “I have the world’s strongest bladder. Seriously, I don’t have the luxury of bathroom breaks. I usually stop drinking fluids a few hours before the show.”

And finally the question everyone wanted to know, from u/kballs “Who would win a fight; you or Saxton?” to which Corey said “I would destroy him. I don’t think Saxton’s ever been in a real fight.” He had a few great responses about friend and commentaty punching bag Bryon, including “What was one time, if ever, where you knew you really made Byron mad on commentary?” to which Corey said “I wish there was a camera on Byron’s face at all times so the world could see him pout EVERY time I insulted him.”

These are just a few of the many answers given by The Savior Of Misbehavior Himself, and you can read the entire thread for yourself here. He mostly avoided questions about topics like Saudi Arabi and wrestlers unionizing, as expected, but still gave some interesting information. Other wrestlers who have done these include Seth Rollins, Matt Hardy (entirely in his Broken persona), Johnny Gargano and many more. It’s a common practice as it’s great promotion, with the subreddit having 438,610 subscribers at the time of writing, it’s a very large collection of fans to reach out to. They’re always worth a read, as you can get some honesty from wrestlers who might be hard to reach out to normally.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
