Name a more iconic duo in NXT then best friends breaking up into a blood feud. We saw it previously with Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn, as well as Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa. Now we are seeing this with Tegan Nox & Dakota Kai. Dakota Kai was upset by being a last minute pick for War Games, and was sick of being overlooked.
She took this out on her tag team partner Tegan Nox in a shocking turn, attacking her with the cage door and removing both of them from the War Games match. Since then, we have seen them attack each other whenever possible. William Regal finally made the match official, and it would go down on NXT.
Tegan Nox Defeats Dakota Kai
In a short but hard hitting match, we would see Tegan Nox get the victory over Dakota Kai. This came after interference from Candice LeRae, who ran to the ring and prevented Kai from using a steel chair to cinch the victory. This momentary distraction would give Tegan Nox the opening she needed, and she would hit a Shining Wizard for the win.
There is no way this is the end of the feud between these two, it was just another chapter in their story. The feud is too heated to end in a single match, and Dakota Kai still hasn’t been fully repaid for her betrayal. This is just one of the first battles in a longer war, one which will define the NXT women’s division throughout 2020.
When Will They Clash Next?
With the card at NXT Takeover Portland filling up, it’s unlikely they will find a spot on that show. Their final clash seems more likely to happen at NXT Takeover Tampa. With rumors of Charlotte Flair challenging Rhea Ripley at Wrestlemania, that leaves an open slot for Nox & Kai in Tampa. This also gives NXT a few months to keep building this feud to a fever pitch, and end it with a bang on Wrestlemania weekend. It might not be easy to keep a heated feud hot until then, but NXT has proven to have a knack for strong storytelling.
