When it was announced that Toni Storm would face Io Shirai on this weeks episode of NXT, fans got excited. Two of the best in the company going head to head for the first time since WWE Evolution. They would deliver a fantastic match, but neither would be able to get a victory. The number one contender for the NXT Womens Champion, Binaca Belair would rush the ring and end the match on her own terms.
Toni Storm Jumped The Line
While Belair won the battle royal last week to earn her shot at the NXT Womens Championship, Toni Storm gets her shot first. Due to her history in beating Rhea Ripley in NXT UK, she was able to goad her into giving her a shot at the title at Worlds Collide. Belair does not want Storm to be the one to dethrone Ripley, and took this chance to beat down Storm. If this will make it easier for Ripley to retain on Saturday is yet to be seen.
Rhea Ripley Doesn’t Need The Help
In response to this unprovoked attack on her friend and rival, Rhea Ripley would make her way to the ring to confront Bianca Belair. They would clash in the ring, but Io Shirai would not be ignoring and made her presence known as she would deliver a springboard dropkick to Ripley. Storm would get involved as well, and would stand tall holding the NXT Womens Championship in the ring. The situation still has a bit of time to get even more combustible, with just a few weeks until NXT Takeover Portland.
Could NXT Takeover Portland Turn Into A Fatal Four Way?
With three hungry challengers knocking at her door, Ripley could very well just choose to knock them all down at once. Despite facing Storm at Worlds Collide this Saturday, if that match was to end in a no-contest like the one on NXT tonight, it would further the flames. While Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley sounds like a fine match for a NXT Takeover, doesn’t Io Shirai vs. Toni Storm vs. Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley sound so much better? It would be chaos and allow for more shine on members of the NXT Womens division.
