Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give a quick preview of tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw! It’s been a hellaciously stressful week for WWE and it’s roster, which I’ve covered to the best of my ability. They’re still weary and discontented coming out of Saudi Arabia, but trying to return to normalcy here. We’re coming off a pretty great edition of SmackDown so let’s see what the follow up is here on WWE Raw.
Interestingly, like last Friday, we have precious little advertised… and we all know how that turned out! Should be a fascinating situation to see play out tonight as well.
We know that WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will be appearing on Raw tonight.
He abruptly quit SmackDown last week so that he could pursue Rey Mysterio. Even though Rey appeared on SmackDown days after being drafted to Raw, he’s now considered Raw-exclusive to the point where Brock had to leave SmackDown just to go after him.
So that’s a tad silly but the feud itself has been a good one and I’m looking forward to the eventual match. Should be interesting to see what plays out between them here tonight. Gotta wonder if we’ve seen the last of Cain Velasquez in this angle. He’s not being advertised for an appearance though.
After losing the Universal Championship to the Fiend at Crown Jewel, Seth Rollins addresses his future on WWE Raw.
They’re teasing this as a major career announcement of sorts. It’s somewhat last minute so there’s not really any speculation I can give.
Rollins might finally be about to turn heel tonight after it looking like the obvious thing to do for the last few months. He could also opt to leave Raw and help fill the void that Lesnar is leaving on Friday nights, maybe to try and avenge his loss and get one last crack at the Fiend.
A change of scenery for him would be a reset technically, and Rollins hasn’t exactly made a ton of SmackDown appearances over the past few years, Raw-exclusive since the re-inception of the Brand Extension. Continuing this angle probably wouldn’t do anything to help his crowd reactions but atleast a new color would be in his backdrops, so that’s something…
An NXT Invasion is also being teased.
NXT’s assault on SmackDown last week was pretty stunning and critically acclaimed. It was a great show of the talent that they have, given what they put forth with so little time to prepare. NXT’s folks literally arrived five minutes before the show started! Crazy.
They’ve got a lot more time on that for any follow-ups and after taking over SmackDown, it only makes sense for them to do the same on Raw. We’ll see what awaits us as things continue.
As always, I will be giving a live play-by-play of WWE Raw, which begins in mere moments as I was pretty late to writing this preview! But nonetheless you can expect the usual blow for blow from me.
