There comes a time for most who enter NXT to say goodbye, and join either RAW or Smackdown. This will usually come after they have done everything possible, making their staying rather pointless. While some like Johnny Gargano will avoid this, the only two time women’s champion in NXT history is set to leave the brand. After one final dominant peformance against Shotzi Blackheart a few weeks back, Shayna Baszler is officially leaving NXT to enter a high level feud on Monday Night RAW.
Shayna Baszler To Enter Feud With Becky Lynch
As Wrestlemania approaches, all major champions need their big rival going into the show. Brock Lesnar has Drew McIntyre, and now Becky Lynch will have Shayna Baszler. The NXT standout was one of the final two in the Royal Rumble, and seeing as Charlotte Flair is leaning towards facing NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley, Becky Lynch is an open target.
Shayna was one of the best workers in NXT during her stint, and while her matches weren’t flashly; they were incredibly consistent which will be welcomed on Monday Night RAW. She can take down easier opponents in a matter of seconds, or have competitive matches.
Even if you generally ignore NXT, you will still recognize Shayna as she was the victor of the main event of Survivor Series in 2019, where she tapped out Bayley in a Triple Threat which also contained Becky Lynch. This will likely be the catalyst for their oncoming feud. With both of them working a style heavily focused on strikes and submissions, we should expect slower paced matches from them, not fast paced marvels.
Will Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke Follow Shayna?
One of the secrets to Shayna Baszler’s dominance in NXT was that she had two underlings to interfere on her behalf and cause problems for opponents. They are two more of the Four Horsewomen Of MMA, Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke. The fourth member is former RAW Women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey. Duke & Shafir are still rather green, but work good in their role as a tag team or as cannon fodder for Baszler. With the women’s tag division being in a lacking state, their presence would be appreciated. It could also help set up a Four Horsewomen Of NXT vs. Four Horsewomen Of MMA for next year’s Survivor Series, should Rousey return.
